For the past few weeks, many activities scheduled for the afternoon have been cancelled. In order to avoid cancellations, we strongly recommend that you book your activities for the morning.
Wind gusts are generally stronger in the afternoon due to the combination of two main factors: temperature changes and sunshine. During the day, the ground heats up, which creates a temperature difference between the air near the ground and the air aloft. This temperature difference causes vertical movements of the air, forming what are called updrafts.
As a result, cooler, denser air from above moves to warmer, less dense areas near the ground. This air movement creates turbulence and high pressure areas that generate more intense gusts of wind. In addition, afternoon sunshine amplifies these phenomena, as it further heats the earth's surface, thereby increasing the temperature difference between the air on the ground and the air aloft. This is why the gusts of wind tend to be stronger during this time of day.
